Class Schedule and Workshops by Yasmina

Yasmina teaches for the Mesa Art Center.  These classes run all year round and are held Tuesday and Wednesday evenings.   Yasmina also offers mini workshops the first Saturday of every month. 

Don't live in the Valley of the Sun? Yasmina is available to teach at your next event.  Check out her available workshops below or she will customize a special workshop for your event.

2nd Thursday Night Class

Class will be held at Yasmina's outdoor studio in downtown Mesa. 
Class will be limited to 10 students reserve your spot early, 480/962-6303 or email me.
Class will be 1 hour from 7 - 8 p.m. the 2nd Thursday of every month.
Each month will be a different topic.  We will work on technique, moves, props and more.
Class fee is $5
NOTE: workshops are held outside on a covered patio that has carpeting and mirrors.

Oct. 9th - Cane, learn single and double cane technique.
Nov. 13th - Tribal fusion night, learn some cool combination moves
Dec. 15th - New combos, learn some new combination to add to your dance.

Mini Workshops by Yasmina

Workshops are held at Yasmina's place in downtown Mesa.  
Please call and reserve your spot since space is limited - 480/962-6303.  
Workshops are 1 1/2 hours in length from 10 - 11:30 the 1st Saturday of the month.
Workshop fee is $5
NOTE: workshops are held outside on a covered patio that has carpeting and there are mirrors.  During the summer months (June, July, August & September workshops will be moved inside)

Workshops  

Yasmina is available to teach any of the below belly dance workshops at your event.  If there is a topic or dance style not listed below Yasmina can customize a workshop for your event. 

Most of the workshops are 2 hours in length and can be adjusted or put in combination for a full day of learning and fun.

“Putting it all Together” with drum solo techniques
Learn helpful hints on performing, understanding Middle Eastern music and how to phrase your dance steps, how to freestyle, entrance & exits, veil and drum solo techniques. A short choreographed drum solo will be taught.

“Demystifying the Veil”
Class is geared to students of all levels
Learn arm position, veil concepts, veil drapes, veil tricks & moves and more for both single and double veil. You will need a rectangle or circular veil for class. For double veil techniques you will need two veils of the same size.

Tribal/Indian hand candles 
Tribal moves fused with dance moves from India. I will teach both Indian style moves and modified moves with hand candles. Students will learn a choreographed routine.

Tribal Fusion skirt 
This tribal dance routine includes tribal moves with funky & hip dance combinations done to a modern piece of music from Desert Roses 3. Students will need a 10 yard skirt.
Warning: this is not your typical tribal dance, far from it ;-)

Single and Double Cane
Learn single & double cane technique, balancing and manipulating canes, a single/double cane routine and what to look for when purchasing a cane. Two choreographed routines will be taught.

Isolations and layering
Class will work on isolations in both the upper body and hips before layering shimmy's on top and blending moves together.

What to do with your arms
Workshop includes arm movements but a lot more.  Learn arm concepts to enhance your dance and dance with feeling.

Dancing with Snakes
Class is geared to students of all levels. Learn to work with your snake in your performance. We will concentrate on placement of snake on your body, moves to hence both snake and dancer, transporting your partner to and from performance and a lot more. Students need to provide their own snake. If you do not have a snake that’s fine bring something that you can wrap around arms, waist, etc.
