Trip to Seoul Korea
I loved Seoul!
It was a fascinating experience!
I was invited by the Korean Belly Dance Association to be a judge of the 1st World Belly Dance Competition in Seoul. There I also taught a seminar to over 100 dancers and performed to a big audience complete with ambassadors, politicians, artists. With me there was Angelika Nemeth of California and Alexandros from Greece.
The gymnasium of the event was huge, the sound and light were state of the art, and the stage was a dream, with huge screens to watch whoever was on stage. Things that we don't see here in the US, where Belly Dance events do not have sponsors to support it.
In that event there were dancers from all over Korea and also, China, Taiwan, Japan, US, Canada and many others. Most of the local dancers were young, as young as 3 years old!!! Cute little belly dancers with full costumes! Most were student of the organizer Ahn Yo Jin.
There were a lot of Cabaret, Egyptian but also lots of Tribal. All the styles had an incredible influence of the their culture, in the costumes, props and even movements.
Dancers were well informed about Belly Dance Community in the US and everywhere else and were eager to show their dances.
